The Resilience Factor: How Flourishing Holds Up Under Pressure
Hi Reader
Most of what I've written in my Human Flourishing series sounds good when life is steady. Good health, meaningful work, close relationships.
But the real test is what happens when things fall apart. The diagnosis comes back serious. The job ends. The marriage is struggling. The loss is real.
That's what this week's post is about.
The Resilience Factor: How Flourishing Holds Up Under Pressure
Here is the short version. Resilience is not toughness. It isn't feeling nothing or putting on a brave face. It is the ability to feel the full weight of something hard without being permanently undone by it. It's the difference between getting knocked down and getting knocked out.
The good news is that resilience is not a trait you either have or don't. It can be built.
Paul says it plainly in 2 Corinthians 4: "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed." The pressure is real. It just isn't the final word.

Want to know where you stand?
I built a short Resilience Assessment to go with this. It's 20 questions and takes about three minutes. It looks at four areas: what you pay attention to, how you interpret what happens, what keeps you going, and what you actually do when things get hard.
Your results will show you which of the four to work on first. It's free, and it's a good starting point if you've been feeling stretched lately.
